Perimeter

This section is centred on finding the perimeter (the total distance around) of figures.

Rectangle

The perimeter of a rectangle, P = L + w + L + w

= 2(L + w)

Where, L is the length of the rectangle

And,      w is the width of the rectangle.

Example

Square

The perimeter of a square, P = L + L + L + L

= 4L

Where, L is the length of a side of the square.

Example

Triangle

The perimeter of a triangle, P = the sum of all the sides.

Example

Circle

The perimeter of a circle is called its circumference. The circumference of a circle, C = 2πr or πd

Where, r is the radius of the circle

d is the diameter of the circle

And,      π is 3.142 or .

Example

Perimeter, P = 2πr
