Area

Area

This section is catered to finding the area enclosed by rectangles, squares, triangles, parallelograms, trapeziums, and circles.

Rectangle

The area of a rectangle, A = Lw

Where, L is the length of the rectangle

And,      w is the width of the rectangle.

Example

Square

Squares are special cases of rectangles. All the sides of a square are equal.

The area of a square, A = L2
Where, L is the length of a side of the square.

Example

Triangle

The area of a triangle,

Where, b is length of the base of the triangle

And, h is the height of the triangle.

Example

Parallelogram

The area of a parallelogram, A = bh

Where, b is the length of the base of the parallelogram

And, h is the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.

Example

Trapezium

The area of a trapezium,

Where, a is the length of one parallel side of the trapezium

b is the length of the second parallel side of the trapezium

And,      h is the perpendicular height (distance between the 2 parallel sides) of the trapezium.

Example

Circle

The area of a circle, A = πr2

Where, r is the radius of the circle

And, π is 3.142 or

Example

Area, A = πr2
