2. Read either of the passages below, then answer the questions that follow.

There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus, full of sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table; moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. the rich man also died and was buried; and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus in his bosom.

Karen: It is she who has the problem and not me! I am not a child of God, she should come to me!

HUMAN LIFE ISSUES

9. Read the ayahs (verse) below, then answer the questions that follow.

Your Lord [Allah] has decreed that your worship none but Him, and that you be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: “My Lord! Bestow on them Your mercy even as they cherished me in childhood.” Your Lord knows best what is in your hearts: if you do deeds of righteousness, surely He is Most Forgiving to those who turn to Him again and again (in true penitence).
